We got a late start on our drive today...we first woke up, worked out, showered, and took our time leaving Lincoln. Once we hit the road it took FOREVER to get out of Nebraska...and it was amazing to see the huge difference in the state from the east side to the west side. It was also amazing to see how we went from 97 degrees the day we left Florida, to 70 degrees in Missouri, to 61 degrees in Nebraska, and now 46 degrees in Wyoming...I'm just not ready for that!!! We were on a straight drive upward today and went from about 1400 ft above sea level in Lincoln, to 6100 ft above sea level now - we can barely breathe ;) Hope you guys like these pics...tomorrow should be a beautiful drive AND you'll get to see our new house!
Our late night snack :) YUMMY!
Went down to the bar for a drink on our last night before hitting SLC - where drinking is near impossible :)
The original elevator - maximum weight limit 250 lbs!
This is our hotel! It may not even come close to the Hutton's status, but it is so cute and quaint. Built in the 1800's, it was an old Indian Reservation! And J and I are pretending it is haunted, just to give it a little edge :)
Weird.
Welcome to Cheyenne! There is literally NOTHING here.
Note the FREEZING temperature, and the crappy gas mileage (at least for a Prius) due to the non-stop uphill driving.
THIS is what the west is supposed to look like!
Freaking finally out of Nebraska!
Such a pretty sunset out here...
Windmill Farm - so cool looking!
They still use trains in America?
This is a shout-out to Matt Varney - we both thought about you as we drove right next to your old state :)
These are our Holy-Cow-we-just-saw-another-Gator-fan-all-the-way-out-here faces!
Poor little Gus was sad by himself in the backseat so he decided to climb up front for awhile. So spoiled! :)
Definitely getting into the west!
How sweet looking is this??? Not only does the corn have rows, but so do the clouds!
Another Windmill! I'm such a lucky girl 0:)
YAY! The biggest "Welcome to the West" we could've asked for! :) So exciting!
Do they really think this is something to brag about??
Look what we came back to the car to find! You can tell by his expression that he knows he is being naughty! (But SO cute!)
It was actually pretty nice and fresh :)
Had to check out the nutrition facts of course :) The 300 lb lady at the counter wasn't giving me very nice looks :P
For those of you who know us, this will come as no surprise. J and I have been together for 8 years and have only been to fast-food maybe 5 times out of those 8 years. Well, we had no choice today...Arbys it was. This is Jordan doing his best Arbys fat-kid impression :P
This is my permanent position in the car...hence the reason we couldn't just rent a Penske truck :)
The scenery is starting to get prettier again...
Fastest speed limit either of us have seen...they don't play around out here in the mid-west!
More empty corn fields - but this type of scenery would soon change!
On the road agaaaain! We take I-80 all the way to Utah! :)
This statement would only be true if the Gators were playing the Corn Huskers in their stadium :) Ya heard?!!
This is actually a pretty cool statue. I know what your thinking...and the answer is, I'm pretty sure that is a wallet in Jordan's pocket ;)
This is me, being the cool kid that I always am :)
Some cool looking pillars outside of the track.
Our next stop is the University of Nebraska - Home of the Corn Huskers. This is their stadium; nice, but definitely no Vanderbilt, or UF!
Next comes the weener-less little boy holding turtles? Anybody NOT confused by this??
This is when it gets a little weird. First, Jordan starts cupping the balls - something he is apparently pretty familiar with :P
Now you will have to use your imagination for these next two photos. Again, the downside of vacationing alone. Just put the two together in your head and it is a really sweet picture :)
On our way out of Lincoln, we wanted to see what the town had to offer. This is the Sunken Gardens...very pretty, but RIGHT next to the road. I was definitely under-impressed.
I had to include this. So, your telling me that I can spend roughly $912 in gas and get a $15 pizza free? Where do I sign?
I know we make fun of Nebraska a lot, but really, it DESERVES it! Don't worry general population...feel safe knowing that if you are injured the Am"bo"lance will be sent to the rescue! :\
We were both feeling a little homesick today - so we decided we needed to REP-RESENT! So, we decked ourselves out in Gator Gear and it really helped! The only problem is that the weirdo at the hotel wanted us to "say hi to Erin Andrews if we have any connections because his most prized possession is an autographed picture he has of her". FREEEEAKY.
Jordan hard at work for The Swim Squad...such a good boy :) There is nothing we enjoy more than waking up early to field phone calls and emails :P
This is Gus - trying to rest up for the long drive ahead :)
I can't wait for you guys to make it to your new home! Tell Jordan he has to carry you over the threshold;)
